International Foundation Year in Business

The NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) in Business, is a one-year qualification designed to prepare you for first year entry to undergraduate degree courses at reputable English speaking universities around the world. The programme is particularly suited to those seeking a career in business, finance and all areas of management.

As well as academic knowledge, the NCUK International Foundation Year will give you specialist English language, study and cultural skills that are an essential part of your degree course. This unique combination will help you to get in to the University of your choice and be successful in your future career.

MODULES

The NCUK Business Pathway offers students access to a wide variety of university degree programmes. This pathway is best suited to students who wish to keep their university course options as broad as possible. The Mathematics component ensures that Business pathway students can apply not only to Humanities degrees, but also to those requiring strong numerical skills.

The Business Pathway on the NCUK International Foundation is comprised of the following modules:

Economics

This course provides an introduction to basic economic concepts and principles. The first term deals with microeconomic issues; the second term with macroeconomic issues.

Maths

This module covers: Logical Thinking; Reasoning; Theoretical and Applied Mathematics; Modelling; Interpreting Results.

English for Academic Purposes

Students develop academic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills together with the skills required to interpret academic texts and write academic assignments.

Business Studies

The aim of this module is to ensure students have a solid grounding in many areas of Business, and feel confident in commencing  their studies in this field at undergraduate level.

OR

Global Studies

This module is intended to help students understand the world around them by encouraging them to engage with key global events and issues in the 21stcentury. It is discovery-based and has an emphasis on effective research to support students’ learning.
